********** The Final Battle ********** |
You will fight Ganondorf in the highest part of his castle. If you happen to fall down during the battle, do not despair. You can climb back up to the battle. There are even some items down at the bottom of the pit which you may purposely jump down to get if you are running low. Ganondorf begins the battle much like the way his demon fought you in the Forest Temple. Find that it is best to equip the Biggoron Sword (for more information on that, see the "Item Trading" summary) and the Hover Boots. You will engage in that familiar game of "catch" with the glowing ball of energy. If you keep it up, he will eventually let his guard down. When this happens, take out your bow (make sure that the Light Arrows are fitted to the bowstring). Quickly but carefully aim at his body and fire away. If you hit him, the arrow should glow as it enters him and he will fall prostrate to the ground. When this happens, equip the Master Sword and "hover" across the gap and swing away at him until he jumps back up in the air. When he does this, "hover" back to one of the corners and turn, with the Biggoron Sword equipped. As you repeat this procedure, you will notice that Ganondorf's cloak becomes rent and tattered. Eventually, Ganondorf might try a different type of attack. This involves his summoning of a large, black cloud of energy. Stand your ground until he releases this energy at you. When this happens, immediately start running and rolling to another corner. It is very difficult, but you can escape this attack unscathed. Fight him in the same manner as before and he will soon die. When he dies, you will meet Zelda. However, in his dying breath, Ganondorf tries to kill both of you by collapsing his castle. You have a limited time to follow Zelda down out of the castle. You will have to fight enemies along the way and dodge falling rocks. Zelda knows the way out (after all, she used to live here seven years ago). She will open all of the barred doorways for you. You should escape the castle with some time left over. When you are just about to celebrate, you will hear some rumbling.
As you move over to inspect it, something emerges from the rubble and knocks the Master Sword out of your hand. It will fall next to Zelda, but they are now both behind a wall of fire. The thing that did this is Ganon. This is the final battle. If you have the Biggoron Sword, the first round should not be that difficult. To stop Ganon's charge, Z-target his head and fire a Light Arrow into it. While he is temporarily stunned, move behind him and attack the end of his tail with your sword. He will start to spin around to clobber you (and it hurts like hell) with his trident. If you have incredible dexterity, you can outmaneuver him again and again and attack his tail.
If he knocks you silly, though, you will have to start the procedure again beginning with the Light Arrow. Eventually, you will knock Ganon to the mat, and you will have to recover the Master Sword, for only this sacred weapon can deliver the deathblow to Ganon. By the time you rush back to Ganon, however, he will have gotten up. He is now a lot angrier and a lot quicker and a lot more powerful. In addition, the Master Sword is weaker than the Biggoron Sword, so the fight will last a bit longer. Battle Ganon in the same procedure as before, and you will, after a while, smite him to the ground again. When this happens, approach with the Master Sword and swing.
A cinematic sequence will ensue and it will show your character delivering the final blow to Ganon.
