Before you go to Ganondorf's Castle, you must stop at the Temple of Time. Here you will meet Sheik for the last time. It turns out (as you have probably already guessed) that Sheik is actually Zelda. She tosses her disguise and reveals more of the story of the Triforce to you. She tells of how the Triforce split into three different fragments when Ganondorf touched it seven years ago when he invaded the Golden Land (remember?).
Ganondorf retained the Triforce of Power, while Zelda took possession of the Triforce of Wisdom. The third fragment of the Triforce, the Triforce of Courage, was entrusted to you. Now that Zelda has revealed all of this to you, she will give you the final weapon that you will need to defeat Ganondorf - the Light Arrows. When she gives these to you, Ganondorf will enter the Temple of Time and capture Zelda. He will take her to his castle, and he dares you to come after him. As you may have already guessed, you will have to follow him into the castle. The castle is not a very complicated place.
Before you enter it, the sages will form a bridge to the castle with their power. Take this bridge and enter the castle. You can just run through the first corridor and roll by the seeking statues. In this next part of the castle, there are six different doors with the marks of the six different medallions over them. Behind each of the six doors, you must fight your way until you get to the last chamber.
It will contain a large, pulsating segment of energy. You must fire a Light Arrow into each of these things to destroy them. Upon destroying each thing, the sage will warp you back into the main room and implore you to hurry. When you get warped back into the main room, you will notice that there is one less colorful beam of energy flowing into the closed gate. In one of the six rooms, you will find the Golden Gauntlets. These are much more powerful than the Silver Gauntlets and they allow you to pick up those massive, tower-shaped black stones that you find in the castle.
As soon as you get the gauntlets, read the Fairies summary to find the location of the Fairy of Courage. Visit her and your defensive power will be doubled. In another room, there will be many unlit torches. When you light them with your Fire Arrow (see the "Special Arrows" summary for more information on this), they will illuminate some hidden parts of the room. When all six colored flows of energy have been destroyed, the sealed gate to Ganondorf's inner sanctum will be opened. You will have to defeat many enemies that you have seen on your way to Ganondorf's high tower, including: Giant Lizards, Stalfos Warriors, and those large, metal things called Iron Knuckles.
When you enter the highest tower, you will find both Ganondorf and Zelda. Ganondorf will command you to give him the Triforce of Courage and will begin his long battle with you, which is covered in the next section...
